HAIR Oléobooster® is a natural protector against external aggressions.
Hair is directly exposed to the environment (sun, washing, hair dryer), impacting its entire structure, from cuticle to the cortex pigments. Inspired by Ayurvedic medicine, HAIR Oléobooster® combines the compounds of two pods: Shikakai (Acacia concinna (Willd.) DC.) and Tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.) with coconut oil (Cocos nucifera L.). It protects hair from external aggressors while preserving its shine and color. Tamarind and shikakai have been used for hundreds of years by Indian women to protect and nourish their hair because these plants are rich in powerful antioxidants. Coconut oil is a natural oil rich in MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) containing fatty acids, such as lauric acid, which have a high oxidative stability. MCTs have a high affinity with hair proteins because of their low molecular weight and linear molecular chains. They are able to penetrate the hair fiber more quickly and deeply than longer chain fatty acids.
An ex-vivo test is performed on 40 color hair locks, separated into four distinct groups (1% HAIR Oléobooster®). A leave-on conditionner is applied at D1, D3 and D5, 15 minutes before UVA-UVB exposure for 10 minutes. Intrumental measurements and clinical scoring are then performed to evaluate hair shine and color. HAIR Oléobooster® significantly protects hair against UV-induced loss of shine. After 5 days, HAIR Oléobooster® boosts color intensity 5 times more than placebo (coconut oil).
A second ex-vivo test is performed on 30 hair locks, separated into three distinct groups (3% HAIR Oléobooster®). A leave-on conditioner is applied to wet hair locks. After 1 minute of using a hair dryer, the hair lock temperature is measured immediately and 1-minute after the end of drying with infrared camera. A significant hair thermo-protective effect of the HAIR Oléobooster® is demonstrated. The increase change in hair temperature is reduced by 8,6 °C immediately after hair dryer use, and by 4,3°C one minute after the end of drying compared to placebo.
