This oil-in-water sunscreen lotion formulation is designed around Hallstar’s HallBrite® EZ-FLO ZDX Plus non-nano zinc oxide dispersion and organic UVB filters, to provide broad spectrum SPF 50 performance for the US market (SPF 30 in many other regions). In vitro analysis indicates SPF ~ 52, PFA (PPD) ~11 performance with critical wavelength 378 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE
1 | To a secondary vessel add phase A and start mixing, heat to 80°C, and then add phase B. |
2 | To the main vessel add phase C, start mixing and add phase D items in order. |
3 | When solids of phase D are fully incorporated, heat phase CD to 75°C. |
4 | When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add phase AB to phase CD with prop mixing. |
5 | Add phase E with mixing and after 5 minutes start cooling batch, When batch is below 50°C add phase F items one by one with mixing. |
6 | Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation and mixing until smooth. |
