This water-in-oil zinc oxide sunscreen lotion provides SPF 30 sun protection without using organic UV filters. HallBrite® BHB (Butyloctyl Salicylate) in HallBrite® EZ-FLO ZDX contributes a very good dispersion for zinc oxide. In vitro analysis suggests SPF ~ 34, PFA (PPD) ~10, performance with critical wavelength 375 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE
1 | To the main vessel, add phase A and start mixing. Add phase B with mixing. Start heating to 75°C. |
2 | Add phase C to phase AB and mix well until uniform. |
3 | To a secondary vessel add phase D, start mixing and heat to 70°C. |
4 | When both phases are homogenous at their designated temperature, start homogenizing phase ABC. |
5 | Very slowly add phase D to phase ABC. |
6 | Start to cool to room temperature. When below 50°C, add phase E to phase ABCD. |
