HallStar® PG3‐O, INCI: Polyglyceryl‐3 Oleate is a natural polyglyceryl ester made through the esterification reaction between a polymer of glycerin and oleic acid. The hydrophilic triglycerol portion is produced through a chlorine free, high heat distillation process. This results in a polymeric/oligomeric hyperbranched triglycerol molecule which is then esterified with oleic acid. It is a light yellow to amber liquid with a bland odor and is produced using RSPO Mass Balance Palm.
Polyglyceryl‐3 Oleate is a water‐in‐oil, W/O, emulsifier with good heat and cold stability. It functions as a low‐irritation, hydrophilic skin conditioning agent, emulsifier, solubilizer and thickening agent. It is PEG, PPG and Chlorine free, non‐irritating to skin and shows no sensitizing effects when used in beauty products. HallStar® PG3‐O has an effective HLB of 5/6 and produces highly stable, rich and luxurious textured emulsions that are highly compatible with UV‐filters, plant extracts and moisturizers. It can also be used in intermediate HLB systems with two or more emulsifiers. Polyglyceryl‐3 Oleate works best in the oil phase between 25% and 35%. Typical use levels are 1.0% to 4.0% in formulation.
